KA Performance: New Hire Safety Orientation

Emergency Procedures and Client Interaction Standards

Lesson 3 of 3

Every staff member, not just coaches, is expected to know the emergency basics below. You may be the first person on the scene, and the first ninety seconds matter.

Wall-mounted AED cabinet next to the front desk, with the emergency phone directly below it
The AED and emergency phone are always in this spot. Point it out to new hires on their first tour.
A member collapses on the training floor and is unresponsive. What is the first action you should take?

Greeting Members

Every member gets a greeting within the first few steps onto the floor, by name if you know it.

Handling Complaints

Listen first, do not promise a refund or fee waiver yourself, and loop in a manager the same day. Complaints logged late are the ones that turn into cancellations.

Confidentiality of Member Information

Membership details, health notes, and payment information stay off the floor and out of casual conversation, including with other members.

That completes New Hire Safety Orientation. Your manager will confirm completion before you are scheduled for a solo shift.
